Install a new network adapter
NOTE 1: For best results, install a network adapter protected-mode driver rather than a real-mode driver used by older network cards.
NOTE 2: Obtain a plug-and-play BIOS for easier network detection by Windows 95.
To set up new hardware with the 'Add New Hardware' Wizard:
1) Install the network card in the computer, following manufacturer's instructions.
2) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
3) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
4) Double-click the 'Add New Hardware' icon. (The 'Add New Hardware' Wizard starts.)
5) Click 'Next'.
6) Select 'No' when prompted to let Windows detect installed hardware.
7) Click 'Next'. (A Wizard page with a list of hardware types appears.)
8) Select 'Network adapters' from the 'Hardware types' list box.
9) Click 'Next'.
10) Do one of the following:
a) Select the card manufacturer and model type:
1] Select the type of card installed from the 'Manufacturers' list box.
2] Select the model from the 'Models' list box.
b) If the manufacturer is not listed:
1] Click 'Have Disk...'. (The 'Install From Disk' dialog box appears.)
2] Insert the manufacturer's diskette provided with the network card in the floppy drive.
3] Type the drive letter and path that contain the drivers for the new hardware in the 'Copy Manufacturer's files from' box.
4] Click 'OK'.
11) Click 'Next' to continue installation. (The '<Manufacturer's> Properties' dialog box appears.)
NOTE: If you are using hardware that conflicts with the hardware you are trying to install, the 'Add New Hardware Wizard' displays a warning. Click 'Next' to continue with installation or click 'Cancel' to exit the installation setup.
12) Select the desired hardware settings from the drop-down list boxes on the 'Resources' tabbed page.
NOTE: Refer to the card manufacturer's instructions for the necessary hardware settings.
13) Insert the Windows 95 installation CD-ROM or diskette when prompted.
14) Click 'Finish'.
15) Reboot the computer.
